Description

This program is designed for serious amateur photographers and those seeking employment where basic photography skills are an asset. Students are introduced to digital cameras and industry standard software used to capture and manipulate images, in a way that develops students’ interest, technical skills and creativity.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can pursue entry-level opportunities in positions and industries where basic photography skills are an asset, including photography assistants, studio assistants, digital processing labs, retail or the freelance market.

Program Learning Outcomes

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  1. capture images using appropriate equipment and techniques;
  2. use design elements and lighting techniques to produce images that communicate effectively;
  3. edit and organize images using industry-standard software.

  • No formal requirements.

Additional Information

It is strongly recommended that students complete or begin to complete PHTO 0025 Digital Camera Techniques, or have a firm understanding of their cameras’ technical capabilities, before taking other courses. Students are required to use their personal camera.

Graduation Window

Students registered in part-time studies programs must maintain continuous registration in order to complete the program according to the curriculum in place at the time they were admitted. Students who do not remain continuously registered must be readmitted to the program and follow the new curriculum.
