Description

In this program, students build job readiness skills and gain trade experience in the industrial trades. Students develop skills and knowledge related to the industrial mechanical, electrical, welding, and plumbing fields to become successful candidates for apprenticeship. After 20 weeks of classroom/lab-based training, students enter into a 12-week paid work placement component.

Program Learning Outcomes

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  1. describe the fundamentals of welding;
  2. select and utilize appropriate tools and equipment needed in the manufacturing industries;
  3. interpret and perform workplace practices and procedures in accordance with government safety standards and regulations pertaining to a manufacturing environment;
  4. operate basic cutting, measuring, and fitting equipment;
  5. work effectively as an individual and team member in the manufacturing industries;
  6. utilize current technology to access information in the mechanical and electrical trades;
  7. practice analytical thinking to implement a systematic approach to problem solving and decision making.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • be eligible to work in Ontario
  • be over the age of 16
  • not be registered as an apprentice
  • submit a current resume
