Description

Students work toward a credential equivalent to Grade 12 for entrance to all Ontario Colleges, apprenticeship training, and employment. To receive a full Academic Career and Entrance Certificate, students are required to complete Communications and Core Mathematics plus two additional courses based on the students' goals. Individual courses may also be taken separately for credit. 

Career Opportunities

Future opportunities may include post-secondary studies, skills training, apprenticeship training, or direct entry opportunities into the job market.

Program Learning Outcomes

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

1. interpret information, ideas and styles of a variety of informational texts, media works, and literary pieces;

2. produce unified and effective written work using a range of organizational structures and credible sources of information; 

3. practice oral communication with a focus on reviewing, summarizing, using parallel structure, and sustaining an appropriate tone;

4. produce media using a variety of sources;

5. develop mathematical problem solving strategies that provide the means to arrive at numeric and algebraic solutions in a structured manner;

6. determine the relationship between variables in order to collect, organize, and display data appropriately;

7. use measurement, formulas, and estimation in a variety of applications; 

8. examine the relationship between an equation and its visual representation;

Admission Requirements

This program is for adult learners who are Ontario residents.

Applicants will be admitted to this program based on program eligibility requirements and the applicant’s assessment results in mathematics and communications.

Applicants for this program must be able to receive instruction and respond in the English language and may be required to complete the Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment and achieve Benchmark 7 in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing Descriptors.

Graduation Eligibility

The passing grade for all courses is 50%. Additionally, a student must attain an overall program average of 70% in order to graduate with an Academic and Career Entrance certificate.
